Inventory Management Consultant

The St. Augustine Medical Laboratory is seeking to engage a Management Consultant to review its current Inventory Management processes and advise on possible improvements. The consultant should be experienced with the following:

  • Inventory optimisation analysis u sing historical and forecast data to establish the optimum inventory target for every product, based on the target service levels required and any working capital restrictions that need to be observed.
  • Inventory accounting principles.
  • Inventory management solutions
  • Business process improvement
The engagement is expected to last between 3 to 6 months and the incumbent work will be performed onsite at the St. August ine Medical Laboratory ’ s Main Office located at 143 Eastern Main Road, St. Augustine, and any other sites later identified.

Laboratory Technician

Position Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor

Summary: The laboratory technician performs testing and adheres to the quality assurance programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Receives test samples and conducts reviews of the request including turnaround time and the suitability of the sample/test method f or testing.
  • Runs controls and calibrations on test equipment to ensure they generate acceptable results before testing. In the event of nonconforming results, reports to supervisor and applies correction/corrective action.
  • Performs tests on samples in an accurate and timely manner according to approved test methods and enters results in an established format.
  • Performs/records routine preventative maintenance on test equipment.
  • Carries out regular checks on reagents and controls, other supplies to ensure they are suitable and not expired.
  • Assists in monitoring the stock of test kits, reagents, other laboratory consumables and reports stocks to supervisor/designate in a timely manner.
  • Disposes of waste according to approved procedures. 8. Identifies abnormal/critical results and reports results immediately to supervisor.
  • Repeats tests when applicable.
  • Maintains laboratory workbenches, equipment and accessories in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Adheres to all approved safety practices.
