Dr. Shari Ramsaran is a medical doctor who graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) with an MB BCh BAO LRCP&SI. During her clinical training, she developed a strong interest in Laboratory Medicine, a field in which she has had lifelong exposure and formal training.

She completed a Master of Science in Clinical Biochemistry (Chemical Pathology) at the University of Manchester, where her research focused on cell signaling pathways in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Dr. Ramsaran has worked extensively in laboratory diagnostics and played a key role in the implementation of COVID-19 testing within the private sector in Trinidad. Her work emphasizes accuracy, accessibility, and efficiency in laboratory investigations.

Recognizing gaps in diagnostic services within Trinidad and the wider Caribbean, Dr. Ramsaran pursued further training in Molecular Medicine at Imperial College London. This training equipped her with experience in modern molecular technologies aimed at improving diagnostic capability and patient care.

Dr. Ramsaran intends to apply her training in Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine to expand diagnostic services in Trinidad and the Caribbean, with plans for continued clinical practice and future involvement in academia.

Additionally, Dr. Ramsaran holds a strong interest in quality control standards and quality management documentation and applies these principles consistently to laboratory diagnostic services. She places significant emphasis on compliance with international standards, reflecting her belief that quality and standardization are essential components of effective healthcare.
